The Portland Trail Blazers travel to Orlando on Tuesday night to face Magic.
Head to head, the Trail Blazers are 2-5 ATS in the last 7 meetings in Orlando while the underdog is 6-1 ATS in the last 7 meetings. The Magic are 10-3 ATS in their last 13 home games, but just 7-19 ATS in their last 26 vs. Western Conference and 2-5 ATS in their last 7 games overall. The Trail Blazers on the other hand are 5-2 ATS in their last 7 vs. Eastern Conference and 5-2 ATS in their last 7 road games vs. a team with a losing home record.
(Please note, this was written before the Portland Trail Blazers game in South Beach against the Heat on Monday night)
The Orlando Magic may have lost nine straight games, but they have covered the spread in 10 of their past 13 at home, which may seem suprising to some of you. See, six of Orlando's last nine contests have come away from home, a place where they have won just four times all season long, I repeat, four!. The Magic are a pretty respectable 15-18 in their 33 games at the Amway Center so far and it wasn't too long ago that this team defeated Indiana and Oklahoma City in back-to-back matches.
With their result in Miami aside, the Portland Trail Blazers are coming off one of their worst losses this season in their 124-94 beat-down in Charlotte on Saturday night. With LaMarcus Aldridge still sidelined with a back contusion, the Trail Blazers had actually won three of four before being dismantled by an improving Bobcats squad, allowing the trio of Al Jefferson, Kemba Walker and Gerald Henderson to combine for 77 points in the blowout victory.
While Orlando has failed to score over 95 points in any of their last four outings, I would still lean towards the over in this one. As I mentioned before, the Magic are a much better team when playing at home and the over has hit in eight of their last 12 at the Amway Center. On the other hand, Portland's offense has really slowed down with Aldridge sidelined as each of their last five games has finished on 214 total points or greater, and that's against teams like New Orleans, Milwaukee, Washington and of course Charlotte in their last outing.....
