The Portland Trail Blazers head to Atlanta on Thursday night to face off against the Hawks.
The Atlanta Hawks are currently sitting at 31-39 this season, which places the Hawks in eighth place in the East. The Hawks, as of right now would be in the playoffs, but Atlanta is holding a slim two and half game advantage over the Knicks at this point. Atlanta is coming off of a loss on Wednesday night, falling to the Timberwolves, in Minnesota 107-83. The Hawks have relied on their offense all season long, and that will have to be the case as the Hawks try and make a playoff run.

The Portland Trail Blazers started off this season as one of the hottest teams in the league, and while the Trail Blazers are still playing very solid ball, Portland has dropped off a bit. The Trail Blazers are now ranked fifth in the West, holding a one and a half game advantage over the Warriors. The Trail Blazers have one of the best offenses in the league, but their defense has been their weakness all season long, something that will need to improve come post season play. In their last outing, the Trail Blazers fell to the Magic 95-85 on Tuesday night in Orlando.
The Trail Blazers have done well on Thursday nights recently, going 8-2 against the spread in their last ten. Portland is also 5-2 against the spread in their last seven games on the road, when the home team has a winning record at home.
The Hawks are just 1-4 against the spread in their last five games at home against teams with a winning road record, and Atlanta is just 1-5 against the spread in their last six games at home. The Hawks are also 0-4 against the spread in their last four games against the West.
Tough call, but I’ll take the points here with the Hawks. Atlanta got destroyed earlier this season in Portland, and now the Hawks have the Trail Blazers at home. Portland is the better team here, but the Trail Blazers have to want to get back home, while the Hawks need all the wins they can get to stay in the post season.
