The Miami Heat continue their surge towards the top seed in the East as they take on the Detroit Pistons tonight.
With just five wins on their last 13 games, it would be fair to say that the Heat have definitely been going through a bit of rough patch lately. To make matters worse, they are coming off a heartbreaking 84-83 loss to their arch rivals, the Pacers. LeBron James had a monster game of 38 points while Dwyane Wade added 15, but no other Heat player finished in double figures, including Chris Bosh who had just eight points while battling foul trouble. In a game that see-sawed from start to finish, the Heat could have easily won this game on another night, but the bottom line is that LeBron had a big night but received no help from his teammates. With the loss, Miami falls to three games behind Indiana with just 12 games left to play.

Meanwhile, the Pistons are coming off a tough loss themselves, as they were beaten by the Cavaliers by 97-96 on Wednesday despite leading by 16 points in the fourth quarter. Josh Smith led the way with 24 points while Brandon Jennings added 17 points and 13 assists but in a game that should've been an easy win, the Pistons fell victim to a massive comeback and lost at the buzzer on a Dion Waiters game-winner. The biggest difference between the teams was the bench scoring as Cleveland's reserves outscored Detroit's by 45-17 because the Pistons just didn't have an answer for Aussie guard, Matthew Dellavedova who made five threes on his way to 21 points. With the loss, Detroit falls to 26-45 overall and 15-22 at home.
In ATS trends, the Heat are 4-9 ATS in their last 13 games overall and 1-6 ATS in their last seven road games, while the Pistons are 5-2 ATS in their last seven games against a team above .600 and 2-5 ATS in their last seven home games.
Head to head, the Heat are 9-3-1 ATS in the last 13 meetings in Detroit and the Road team is 4-0 ATS in the last four meetings overall.
I'm definitely looking for the Heat to get the win and cover here as they are just too strong and this is their time of the year.
