The Detroit Pistons season has turned into a struggle as hopes of making the playoffs have turned to hopes of coming up big in the NBA Draft lottery. The Pistons are 11-25 on the road this season and they are 2-8 in their last 10 games. Josh Smith leads Detroit averaging 16.5 points and 6.9 rebounds per game. Brandon Jennings is averaging 15.7 points and 7.8 assists, Greg Monroe is averaging 15.1 points and 9.3 rebounds, and Rodney Stuckey is averaging 13.3 points. As a team the Pistons are averaging 100.7 points and they are shooting 44.7 percent including 31.9 percent from beyond the three-point arc while defensively they are allowing 104.1 points and their opponents are shooting 46.8 percent. Detroit has looked very good at times but very bad at others.
Brooklyn is 21-8 against the spread in their last 29 home games, 14-3 against the spread following a game that they didn’t cover the spread, and 13-6 against the spread in their last 19 games. Detroit is 4-1 against the spread in their last five road games, 1-4 against the spread in their last five games, and 1-8 against the spread against the Eastern Conference. The underdog has covered the point spread in eight of the last 11 meetings of these two.
I hate laying the big number but at this point in the season a lot has already been decided and I like the Nets to get the cover and to play with purpose.
