The Miami Heat and the Brooklyn Nets face off on Tuesday in what could be a preview of a NBA Eastern Conference playoff matchup.

The Miami Heat are in first place in the Eastern Conference playoff standings, two games ahead of the Indiana Pacers in the loss column, as they look to take a step closer to securing home court. The Heat are 31-7 at home this season and they are 7-3 in their last 10 games. LeBron James leads Miami averaging 26.8 points, 6.9 rebounds, and 6.5 assists per game, Dwyane Wade is averaging 19.2 points, Chris Bosh is averaging 16.5 points and 6.7 rebounds, and Mario Chalmers is averaging 9.8 points. Miami is averaging 103 points and they are shooting 50.4 percent including 36.4 percent from beyond the three-point arc while defensively they are allowing 97.3 points and their opponents are shooting 45.3 percent. The Heat are looking for the three-peat this season though they know this year may be their toughest challenge yet.

Miami Heat vs. Brooklyn Nets NBA Pick, Odds, Prediction 4/8/14

USA TODAY Sports

The Brooklyn Nets are in fifth place in the Eastern Conference playoff standings and they look to be  secure in that spot. The Nets are 7-3 in their last 10 games, 15-23 on the road this season, and they have won their last two games. With Brook Lopez out Joe Johnson is the Nets leading scorer averaging 15.6 points, Deron Williams is averaging 14.5 points and 6.3 rebounds, and Paul Pierce is averaging 13.5 points. As a team the Nets are averaging 98.8 points and they are shooting 45.9 percent including 37 percent from beyond the three-point arc while defensively they are allowing 99.4 points and their opponents are shooting 45.5 percent. The Nets are 2.5 games behind fourth place and 2.5 games ahead of sixth place.

Miami is 6-1 against the spread I their last seven games, 4-1 against the spread following a win, and -2 against the spread in their last seven home games. Brooklyn is 8-0 against the spread against a team with a winning record, 14-2 against the spread following a game that they didn’t cover the point spread, and 0-4 against the spread in their last four road games. The home team has covered the point spread in six of the last eight meetings of these two.

The line is at seven and that isn't going to be enough as I have the Heat by double digits here.
