The Brooklyn Nets and Orlando Magic will meet for what will be the first of two meetings this week. The game-series between the two teams has been split.
The Nets have won three in a row and six of their last seven games, including an 88-87 win over the Miami Heat on Tuesday. The Nets have now swept the best team in the East. On the season, the Nets average 98.8 points on 45.9 percent shooting and allow 99.4 points on 45.5 percent shooting. Point guard Shaun Livingston has been extremely valuable to the Nets lately, as he’s averaging 30 minutes and shooting 52.4 percent from the field in his last five games. The Nets have won 19 of their last 21 games when scoring more than 100 points. The Brooklyn Nets are 41-35 ATS overall and 16-21 ATS on the road.
The Magic are coming off a 100-92 win on Saturday over the Minnesota Timberwolves, but have still lost 12 of their last 15 games. On the season, the Magic average 96.7 points on 44.4 percent shooting and allow 101.9 points on 45.5 percent shooting. Kyle O’Quinn, who is seeing more minutes lately, has scored in the double figures in two straight games. The Magic have lost 14 of their last 16 games when allowing 100-plus points. The Orlando Magic are 32-42-3 ATS overall and 20-17-1 ATS at home.
The Nets are 16-7 ATS in their last 23 games vs. a team with a losing S.U. record and 1-4 ATS in their last 5 road games. The Magic are 4-1-1 ATS in their last 6 home games and 9-2 ATS in their last 11 home games vs. a team with a losing road record. The Nets are 4-1-1 ATS in the last 6 meetings, while the favorite is 7-1-1 ATS in the last 9 meetings.
This is a serious case of being a letdown game for the Nets after sweeping the Heat, but I just can't back the Magic and the points regardless of how bad the Nets have been on the road. The Nets should dig deep in this game and do enough to get the win and cover the chalk.
