The Dallas Mavericks play host to the Phoenix Suns on Saturday night from the American Airlines Center.
Head to head, the Suns are 3-12 ATS in the last 15 meetings and 1-6 ATS in the last 7 meetings in Dallas while the favorite is 12-4 ATS in the last 16 meetings. The Mavericks are 39-13 ATS in their last 52 games following a S.U. loss, but just 0-4 ATS in their last 4 home games and 3-7 ATS in their last 10 home games vs. a team with a winning road record. The Suns on the other hand are 8-3 ATS in their last 11 road games vs. a team with a home winning % of greater than .600, 9-4 ATS in their last 13 games playing on 0 days rest and 14-6 ATS in their last 20 road games.
The Dallas Mavericks are an interesting team in that they seem to play better on the road than at home, which is certainly the case when your looking at it from a betting stand point. The Mavs have covered the spread in 26 of their 40 road games this season, but they are only 17-23 against the spread in their 40 games at home. Even looking at their last 10 games overall, they are a perfect 4-0 on the road, but just 2-4 in their contests at home.
Speaking of dominance on the road, the Phoenix Suns have pretty much been the best team this entire season when talking about covering the number away from home as they are a remarkable 27-12 ATS in road games thus far. After back-to-back road wins in Portland and New Orleans, the Suns couldn't make it three in a row on Friday night in San Antonio, falling to the Spurs 112-104. Tonight's game will mark the third road game in four nights for this young Phoenix outfit.
While I would lean towards Phoenix if I had to pick a side, I think the over holds more value. 210 might seem like a lot of points, but it's not when you consider their last two meetings this season finished on totals of 231 and 217 points.
Dan’s Pick: Over 210
