The Los Angeles Lakers and the Memphis Grizzlies face off on Sunday Night in NBA basketall action.
It has been an awful year for the Los Angeles Lakers but they will get a rare opportunity for them to get a chance in the NBA draft lottery and should get at least one top notch player. The Lakers are 2-8 in their last 10 games, have lost six in a row, and 14-26 at home this season. Nick Young leads Los Angeles in scoring averaging 17.6 points, Jodie Meeks is averaging 15.6 points, and Jordan Farmar is averaging 10.4 points. As a team the Lakers are averaging 1-2.8 points and they are shooting 44.8 percent while defensively they are allowing 109.5 points and their opponents are shooting 46.8 percent. The Lakers simply don’t look like the team we have known over the years.
USA TODAY Sports
The Memphis Grizzlies are clinging to the final playoff spot in the NBA Western Conference, as they are a half of a game ahead of the Phoenix Suns. The Grizzlies are 21-18 on the road, 6-4 in their last 10 games, and they have won their last two games. Zach Randolph leads Memphis averaging 17.1 points and 10.1 rebounds, Mike Conley is averaging 17.1 points and 6.0 assists, and Mark Gasol is averaging 14.4 points and 7.0 rebounds. As a team the Grizzlies are averaging 95.9 points and they are shooting 46.3 percent while defensively they are allowing 94.5 points and their opponents are shooting 44.9 percent. Memphis has plenty of motivation for this one.
Los Angeles is 3-7 against the spread following a game that they didn’t cover the spread, 0-4 against the spread in their last four home games, and 0-4 against the spread following a loss. Memphis is 2-7 against the spread in their last nine games, 2-8 against the spread following a win, and 0-7 against the spread in their last seven road games.
The Grizzlies just have a ton at stake here and it would be tough to think they wouldn’t be motivated and be able to keep their foot on the gas.
