NBA Player Updates 4/19: Granger, Draft Lottery Outlook, Today's TV Schedule and More
April 19, 2014
Today’s the day. The NBA Playoffs will be getting started in just a few hours, and the anticipation is high for all the first-round matchups. Before we get settled in and absorb the on-court festivities, let’s take our daily look around the league and see what’s happening out there. Here’s the latest.
Nick Calathes, SG, Memphis Grizzlies: The big story from yesterday concerned Calathes and his 20-game suspension. He’ll begin serving it today as the Grizzlies open up the playoffs against the Thunder.
Calathes’ suspension comes as a result of the NBA’s Anti-Drug policy, which he violated. According to reports, the positive test isn’t from PEDs, but rather from an over-the-counter supplement.
Calathes is Memphis’ first option off the bench when it comes to relieving their guards. He’ll be difficult to replace.

Danny Granger, SF, Los Angeles Clippers: Good news for the Clippers. SF Danny Granger has been practicing this week and plans to be able to play today in Game 1 of the team’s first round series against the Warriors.
Granger has been out for the Clippers’ last nine games due to a hamstring strain. He’s been on the court during just 41 contests this season, averaging 8.0 points per game.
Draft Lottery Odds: While some teams are getting geared up for the playoffs, others are sitting at home wondering what went wrong. There’s always the Draft Lottery, though, and this year is a potent class. Here’s a look at the lottery teams’ odds of landing the top pick when the ceremony is held May 20.
