NBA Player Updates 4/29: Heat Move On, Spurs Win, Tonight's TV Schedule and More
April 29, 2014
Another evening of NBA playoff basketball is in the bag, and we’ve got even more to look forward to tonight. Before we settle in and wait on all the big games, let’s take our daily look around the league and see what’s happening out there. Here’s the latest.
LeBron James, SF, Miami Heat: The Heat, who are looking very much like two-time defending champions in this playoffs run, used a 32-17 third quarter to overcome the Charlotte Bobcats and sweep the first round 4-0. James led the way during the 109-98 win, providing 31 points while Chris Bosh added 17 more of his own.
James is now 9-0 in first-round playoff series during his career. He’ll be tough to deal with in his quest for a third straight NBA title.

Mike Scott, PF, Atlanta Hawks: On the opposite side of the scale from the Heat, we’ve got the Pacers. Their backs are up against the wall with the Hawks up 3-2 in their first-round series, and Atlanta could become just the sixth team in NBA history to overcome a No. 1 seed as a No. 8. Scott and fellow reserve Shelvin Mack put up 30 points in the second quarter alone as their team steamrolled to a 107-97 win.
Atlanta can take the series on Thursday in Game 6.
Manu Ginobili, SG, San Antonio Spurs: This season, the Spurs are 53-1 when they hold a lead heading into the fourth quarter. They did exactly that last night against the Mavericks, evening up their series at 2-2. Ginobili provided 23 points and five assists in a critical performance during the 93-89 win.
Game 5 is tomorrow night in San Antonio, and it’s a big one. Game 6 will be Friday in Dallas. If necessary, a winner-take-all Game 7 would be Sunday.
NBA Daily Schedule: A half-dozen teams will be out on the court tonight, fighting for their playoff lives. Here’s a look at the complete schedule, along with the start times and TV networks carrying each game.
