The San Antonio Spurs and Portland Trail Blazers will play game three of the NBA playoffs on Saturday. The Spurs lead the series 2-0.
The Spurs continued to dominate in game two, shooting 53.3 percent from the field and 60 percent from beyond the arc. There were seven Spurs players who scored in the double figures in the 114-97 win. With the win, the Spurs improve to 25-3 SU in their last 28 games when scoring 100 or more points. In the Spurs last five games, they’re averaging 113.8 points on 51.9 percent shooting and are allowing 100.2 points on 43.5 percent shooting. USA TODAY Sports
The Trail Blazers played much better in game two, but they still shot just 43 percent from the field and allowed the Spurs to score 41 points in the second quarter. In the Trail Blazers last five games, they’re averaging 101.8 points on 43.4 percent shooting and allowing 111.2 points on 49.2 percent shooting. Damian Lillard is averaging just 18 points after averaging 25.5 points in the Rockets series, and LaMarcus Aldridge is shooting just 37.5 percent in this series. The Trail Blazers need both players to play better if they have any shot, but they are returning home where they average 108 points per game. The Portland Trail Blazers are 46-44 ATS overall and 19-25 ATS at home.
The Spurs are 13-4 ATS in their last 17 games following a ATS win and 4-0 ATS in their last 4 Conference Semifinals games. The Trail Blazers are 1-7 ATS in their last 8 home games and 0-6 ATS in their last 6 games overall. The Spurs are 3-10 ATS in the last 13 meetings in Portland.
Call me crazy, but I still believe in the Trail Blazers to make this a series. They just need to stop getting off to slow starts and get more production from their star players. Winning at the Moda Center is difficult for any team, especially the Spurs who have been horrible ATS in that building.
In a must-win game, give me the Trail Blazers for the SU victory.
