NBA Player Updates 5/21: Heat Win Game 2, Tonight's TV Schedule and More
May 21, 2014
We’re flipping back out west tonight in the NBA Playoffs, with another matchup between the Spurs and Thunder. Before we get settled in for Game 2, let’s take our daily look around the league and see what’s happening out there. Here’s the latest.
Dwyane Wade, SG, Miami Heat: All that worrying that everyone did about the Heat following their Eastern Conference Finals Game 1 loss to the Pacers looks like it was all for nothing. They responded with a solid Game 2 in a comeback victory to even the series at one game apiece.
Wade led the way for his team with 23 points in the 87-83 victory, with LeBron James providing 22 of his own. On the other side, Lance Stephenson had 25 points, seven assists and six rebounds (but disappeared in the fourth).
Indiana will also have to worry about Paul George who admitted to blacking out after getting kneed in the head. The team will likely watch him closely for concussion symptoms.
Game 3 is Saturday in Miami and Game 4 will be Monday.

Draft Order: How lucky can the Cavaliers get? They landed the No. 1 pick yet again at last night’s draft lottery, overcoming odds of just 1.7 percent in the ninth spot. That makes three out of the last four years that Cleveland has had the top selection in the draft.
This is a deep draft class, and the Cavs will have the pick of a litter including Andrew Wiggins, Joel Embiid and Jabari Parker.
Here’s the top 10:
Kevin Love, PF, Minnesota Timberwolves: This is turning into a soap opera, with a new twist every day. Here’s the story so far. Love has been a hot topic of conversation over the past few days, after word broke that his representatives had informed the Timberwolves that they could either trade him or watch helplessly as he opts out of his contract after next season.
Wolves owner Glen Taylor said earlier this week that he has no intentions of trading Love, though that hasn’t dampened the interest levels of several teams around the league. Both the Knicks and Celtics are said to be in hot pursuit of a potential deal, but we’ll have to see what Taylor opts to do.
Realistically, the best case scenario for Minnesota seems to be a trade--prior to this year’s NBA Draft, that is (June 26). They’ll be a able to pull a top prospect from that very talented class, which would be much preferred over seeing him exit after next year.
This story isn’t anywhere near its end, so we’ll definitely be seeing plenty more twists and turns before the dust settles.
NBA Daily Schedule: The Western Conference Finals are once again in the spotlight tonight. Here’s a look at the schedule, along with the start time and TV networks you can catch the games on.
