NBA Player Updates 6/9: Heat Tie Series, NBA Finals TV Schedule and More
June 9, 2014
We’re officially two games into the 2014 NBA Finals, and the series is already turning out to be incredibly interesting. While we’re in the midst of some downtime here, let’s take our daily look around the league and check out some of the headlines. Here’s the latest.
LeBron James, SF, Miami Heat: This is getting to be a regular occurrence for the Heat. After a big road victory last night in Game 2 of the 2014 NBA Finals, Miami has now won 13 times in a row following a loss in the postseason.
James didn’t get off and running early, but went the distance in this one anyway, posting 35 points and 10 rebounds to lead his team to a 98-96 victory.
On the other side, Tony Parker posted 21 points and seven assists, while veteran Spur Tim Duncan had 18 points with 15 rebounds. The pair went could in the final quarter, combining for just three points on 1-for-3 shooting. James, meanwhile, logged eight of his points in that final frame after logging a 6-for-7 line in the third.
Also weighing heavily in the Spurs’ defeat was their bad foul shooting (they missed their last four attempts from the line) and their inability to get foul shots over the last 6:30 or so in the game.
So now the series is tied--as it was last year--which is perhaps the most fitting outcome here. It should be an entertaining set in Miami.

Anthony Davis, PF/C, New Orleans Pelicans: Let’s take a moment to head down to New Orleans and check out Davis, who has already made some great strides in his physicality as he prepares for the 2014-15 campaign.
The big man is reportedly hitting the weights, and is currently weighing in at 237 pounds--seven pounds over last season’s playing weight.
In addition to the extra mass, Davis has been developing his game, adding a corner three and some post moves to his toolbox.
We should be getting a closer look at the new and improved Davis when he plays for Team USA this summer.
