The Miami Heat and San Antonio Spurs will play game five of the NBA Final on Saturday night. The Spurs lead the series, 3-1.
Once again the Heat were blown out on their home court in game four, as LeBron James was the only player who scored more than 12 points. Dwyane Wade was a horrible 3-13 from the field and Mario Chalmers continued his struggles by scoring just four points. With the 107-96 loss, the Heat drop to 0-5 SU in the playoffs when allowing more than 100 points. In the Heat’s last five games, they’re averaging 97.6 points on 51 percent shooting and allowing 103.2 points on 52.7 percent shooting. The Heat must get contributions from other players besides James or this series will be over quickly. The Heat hope to save their season on the road, a place where they average 99.2 points on 48.9 percent shooting. The Miami Heat are 48-51-2 ATS overall and 24-25-1 ATS on the road.

The Spurs once again sliced and diced the Heat’s defense by shooting 57.1 percent from the field and having 25 assists on 40 made baskets. With the win, the Spurs are 13-2 SU in the playoffs when scoring more than 100 points. In the Spurs last five games, they’re averaging 107.2 points on 50.8 percent shooting and allowing 95.6 points on 47.7 percent shooting. Kawhi Leonard has scored a combined 49 points in his last two games and is shooting 59 percent in the series, while Tony Parker is shooting 50.9 percent in this series. The Spurs hope to become champs on their home court, a place where they average 106.8 points on 50 percent shooting. The San Antonio Spurs are 57-47 ATS overall and 28-25 ATS at home.
The Heat are 7-2 ATS in their last 9 games following a double-digit loss at home and 6-2 ATS in their last 8 games following a ATS loss. The Spurs are 8-1 ATS in their last 9 home games and 19-7 ATS in their last 26 games following a ATS win. The Heat are 1-4 ATS in the last 5 meetings.
Everybody is going to tell you the series is over and probably for good reason. The Spurs have clearly been the better team in this series and are taking it to the Heat in every way possible. However, the Heat are the two-time defending champs for a reason and aren’t going to go down without a fight.
Maybe the Spurs prove me wrong, but there’s too much value with the Heat ML for me to shy away.
