This will be a big weekend for NBA news, even though we’re still pretty far off from the regular season. We’ve got a big-time trade to occupy ourselves with, not to mention the upcoming tournament featuring the USA Basketball team. Let’s get started by taking a look at the day’s headlines.

Love Deal Latest: Well, today’s the big day. The Cavaliers and Timberwolves will be swapping assets in the coming hours for what’s likely the biggest trade in recent memory.
According to reports that emerged yesterday, another team has moved into the mix, so we’ll have activity from a trio. Here’s how it breaks down: The Timberwolves will get Anthony Bennett, Andrew Wiggins and a first round pick, the Cavs will get Love, and the 76ers will receive the first-round pick, Alexey Shved and Luc Richard Mbah a Moute. In exchange, they’ll ship Thaddeus Young to Minnesota.
Got all that? On the surface, it seems that each team will be getting what they want; The Cavs are in win-now mode and the T-Wolves/Sixers are just trying to get rebuilding pieces. Things will reportedly be becoming official in the coming hours, so stay tuned.

Garcia Signing: We haven’t heard too much out of the Rockets this off-season, but they were active yesterday.
Bench guard Francisco Garcia reportedly will be re-signing with the team for one year. He’ll get a veteran minimum deal that will pay him $1.32 million.
The 33-year-old Garcia posted averages of 5.7 points an 19.7 minutes per game in the 2013-14 campaign. He’s a veteran leader on the Rockets team and will serve them well.

Team USA Cuts: Let’s finish up by taking a quick look at the final cuts that stemmed from Team USA’s 112-86 win over Puerto Rico last night.
The team has finalized its roster--even though it didn’t need to quite yet. The players who got the axe were Chandler Parsons, Kyle Korver, Damian Lillard and Gordon Hayward. DeMar DeRozan and Andre Drummond made the final two slots, as USA Basketball trys to remain big in their lineup.
