After a pretty slow week of NBA off-season news, we’ve had some monster developments over the past couple of days that will shape the landscape of the upcoming regular season. With that in mind, let’s take our daily look at the headlines out there and see which players everyone’s talking about.

Love Trade: Okay, let’s address the proverbial elephant in the room. Yesterday’s enormous trade--which was the biggest in recent memory--went down without a hitch as expected, and now we have a distinctly different landscape in the East.
Kevin Love is now a Cavalier, and in return the Timberwolves have a plethora of young talent and future prospects. Andrew Wiggins, Anthony Bennett and Thaddeus Young (from the Sixers in exchange for the first-round pick included) are now in Minnesota, signifying a bright new day for the team.
In Cleveland, hopes are now at a fever-pitch as the Cavs plunge into win-now mode in their quest to stack the deck toward an NBA title.
The pieces are in place. Will it happen? That’s a storyline yet to be written. We’ll see.

Powell Signing: The Cavaliers were active yesterday (and not just active in that other deal), inking forward Dwight Powell, who was the 45th pick overall in this year’s draft. The contract terms weren’t announced (league policy).
Here’s a quick rundown on what Powell brings to the table for the Cavs. He averaged 10.8 PPG and 6.3 RPG in 26.2 minutes during his career at Stanford (136 games). He’s 6-11, 240-pounds and was a two-time First Team All-Pac 12 selection.

USA Basketball Final Roster: Late Friday night, we got our first glimpse at the finalized USA Basketball roster for the 2014 FIBA Basketball World Cup. The announcement came after an exhibition tune-up victory over Puerto Rico in New York, even though the coaching staff technically had another week to decide their players’ fates.
Representing the U.S. will be: DeMarcus Cousins; Stephen Curry; Anthony Davis; DeMar DeRozan; Andre Drummond; Kenneth Faried; Rudy Gay; James Harden; Kyrie Irving; Mason Plumlee; Derrick Rose and Klay Thompson.
Play begins August 30.
