NBA Player Updates 8/28: News From Around the League, Off-Season Schedule and More
August 28, 2014
We’ve had quite a bit to talk about during this NBA off-season, and we’ll have plenty more when Team USA takes the court in the World Cup this weekend. While we’re waiting on that, let’s take our daily look around the league and see who’s making news out there right now.
Recent Transactions: There have been a few notable trades and signings around the league over the past couple of days, so let’s take a moment to review what’s been happening out there.
USA TODAY Sports
The Clippers and Bucks were involved in a deal this week, as L.A. sent Jared Dudley to Milwaukee in exchange for Carlos Delfino, Miroslav Raduljica and a future first-rounder.
Dudley is coming off a 6.9 PPG average in his 23.4 MPG last year. This move will open up some spots for other small forwards on the roster in Los Angeles.
The Thunder sent center Hasheem Thabeet (along with some money) over to Philadelphia in exchange for a second-round pick (protected) next year and a trade exception which lasts one year.
Thabeet appeared in 66 games last season but lost out on minutes due to the emergence of Steven Adams. He’s also played in Portland and Houston.
The Hawks re-signed forward Mike Scott, who rounded out his game last season and finished with some impressive stats.
Scott posted 9.6 PPG in 2013-1, making 62 of 200 attempts from three-point range. He nailed five triples in just the second quarter of Game 5 of the series against the Pacers last season.
Back to the Pelicans. New Orleans inked forward John Salmons off the free agent market. He’s a 12-year league vet, averaging 9.4 PPG, 3.0 RPG and 2.5 APG throughout his tenure.
Salmons entered the league in 2002 and has played with Philadelphia, Sacramento, Chicago, Milwaukee and Toronto.
