TV:

There have been a few interesting storylines emerging from the NBA this week, which is a nice change of pace from the normal barren wasteland that is the off-season. Still, we’ve got plenty to talk about--not to mention the World Cup this weekend--so let’s take our daily look around the league and see what’s happening out there right now.

Rivers Extension: We haven’t had a chance to discuss this one quite yet, so let’s take a moment to check out Clippers coach Doc Rivers’ new contract in L.A.
It’s good to see the team displaying some solidarity with this signing, following what’s been a very ugly ownership transfer. The Clippers retained Rivers in new owner Steve Ballmer’s first noteworthy move since taking over the franchise, inking their coach to a five-year extension. That will keep him on board through 2018-19.
Rivers has been with the team since June of 2013. He’s coming off a 57-25 record last season, which was the best record in franchise history, and a second straight title in the Pacific Division. He won an NBA title in 2008 with Boston.

Brown Signing: Here’s another signing from this week that made minor news. On Wednesday, the Heat announced a deal with guard Shannon Brown. The terms of the deal were not made public, as per team policy.
Brown has been in the league for eight seasons, playing in 403 total games. In that span he’s averaged 7.7 points 1.9 rebounds and 1.1 assists per game. In 2013-14, he spent time with the Spurs and Knicks over a 29-game stretch.
Back in 2009 and 2010, Brown won back-to-back championships with the Lakers, so he’s no stranger to success.
