September 4, 2014
With the NBA action at a standstill over the past few months, we’re all turning our attentions toward the World Cup and cheering on Team USA. They’ve got some more work to do in the opening round, so with that in mind let’s check out some of the headlines from that tournament and the NBA in general.
Team USA Latest: The Americans improved to a nice 4-0 record in World Cup play yesterday with yet another rout. This one came at the expense of the Dominican Republic, whom Team USA took care of 106-71.
Kenneth Faried stayed hot for the Americans, posting 16 points. DeMarcus Cousins also added 13 points off the bench on a perfect 5-for-5 shooting run.
The victory cements the US as the No. 1 seed in Group C. Play in that group will finish up today against Ukraine, then the team will move on to the round of 16 against Barcelona on Saturday. The USA’s opponent will be the fourth-place team from Group D.

Clippers Signings: Now let’s move on to a couple of minor signings from yesterday, courtesy of the Los Angeles Clippers.
The Clips inked both Chris Douglas-Roberts (forward/guard) and Ekpe Udoh (forward/center) out of free agency, the team announced yesterday.
Douglas-Roberts posted a 6.9 PPG average and 2.4 RPG average in his 49 appearances with the Bobcats last year. He’s been a journeyman in his career, spending time in New Jersey, Milwaukee and Dallas.
As for Udoh, he posted a 3.4 PPG average and 3.5 RPG average in his 42 games in Milwaukee last year. He’s also spent time with the Thunder.
