NBA Player Updates 9/23: News From Around the League, Off-Season Schedule and More
September 23, 2014
The 2014-15 NBA season is getting closer, even though it may not feel that way just yet. That said, we’ve still got plenty of news to look forward to each day, so let’s take our daily look around the league and see which players are making headlines right now. Here’s the latest.
There’s been some speculation over the past day or so as far as where Zoran Dragic--brother of NBAer Goran--will end up this season. He still needs to be purchased from his Spanish contract, but that seems a foregone conclusion now.
The early money has been on Phoenix, as they’re considered the frontrunners to land Dragic. It makes sense, as Goran already is a Sun, and interestingly enough the team has another set of brothers on its roster in Marcus and Markieff Morris.
A deal seems imminent, so we should be getting that news any time. One other NBA team is reportedly interested in Dragic, so the Suns have some competition. During this year’s World Cup, he posted a 14.1 PPG average with 4.0 RPG in 26.3 minutes.

Yesterday, we learned that the Mavericks had signed free agent guard Doron Lamb. The terms of the deal weren’t immediately released at the time of the annoucement.
Lamb is coming off a 53-game season in Orlando, posting 3.6 PPG in his 13 minutes on the floor. He came out of Kentucky and won the NCAA championship with them in 2012. He was drafted by Milwaukee in the second round and went to the Magic in February of last year in the J.J. Redick deal.
In another minor signing yesterday, the Bulls announced that they had re-signed backup center Nazr Mohammed. As per team policy, the details of the deal weren’t made public.
Mohammed played in 80 games for the Bulls last season, averaging 1.6 PPG and 2.2 RPG in his 7.0 minutes. He’s a 16-season veteran of the NBA and has spent time in Oklahoma City, Charlotte, Detroit, San Antonio, New York, Atlanta and Philadelphia in a journeyman career.
