It’s been a pretty good week for NBA news, which is a good sign that the regular season is coming soon. We’ve still got just about a month before the games start to count, so let’s fill some time by taking our daily look around the league and seeing who’s making news this morning.

Guard Dahntay Jones will be getting a shot to make an NBA roster in training camp. He’s been signed by the Jazz. The news broke late this week.
Jones didn’t play in the league this past year, but was a member of both the Mavericks and Hawks during 2012-13. He played in 78 games total during that campaign.

On Thursday, Hornets forward Jeff Taylor was arrested on a charge of domestic assault. He’s probably looking at a suspension, especially considering the recent attention that’s been cast on domestic violence issues in sports.
Taylor had an 8.0 PPG average and a 2.3 RPG average in his 25 games last year.

Let’s take a look at some roster moves that have gone down over the past couple of days. The Cavaliers picked up Keith Bogans from Boston, giving up non-guaranteed salary casualties Erik Murphy, John Lucas, Malcolm Thomas and Dwight Powell.
The Celtics also get two future second-rounders in the deal.
A short time after that deal was announced, the Celtics waived Johnson and Babb.

It’s looking like the Pacers will be without center Ian Mahinmi for the beginning of this training camp. He’s still recovering from his off-season shoulder surgery.
So far, Mahinmi has only been able to do light upper-body work, but it doesn’t look like he’s too far behind. Pacers coach Frank Vogel said he’ll probably be ready to go after a week or so. We’d imagine that’s when the team will ease him into action from there.
