The Line: See the Latest Odds
The Sacramento Kings and Toronto Raptors meet Sunday night at the Rogers Arena for their first 2014 preseason game.
The Sacramento Kings hope this will be an improved season after winning just 28 games last year, and they have a promising young roster that could surprise some people. Coach Michael Malone admitted that he has no idea who is going to be starting this game besides Rudy Gay and DeMarcus Cousins. One thing for sure is that the Sacramento Kings have a lot of position battles up for grabs, which should make for entertaining basketball. At shooting guard, Ben McLemore and Nik Stauskas will battle it out throughout the preseason, and Jason Thompson, Reggie Evans and Carl Landry will compete for playing time at power forward. At point guard, the newly acquired Darren Collison should be the starter, but he likely won’t see a ton of playing time considering it’s just the first game. The Kings could be a fun team to watch this season.

For the first time in a while, the Toronto Raptors have fairly high expectations after reaching the playoffs last season. The Raptors return majority of last year’s squad, so don’t be surprised if a lot of the younger players see the bulk of the action in this matchup. Experienced teams that are familiar playing together don’t need to see the court much, and that’s the case here for the Raptors. Players like Lucas Nogueira and Bruno Caboclo, guys who likely aren’t going to play much in the regular season if at all, should get a ton of minutes throughout the preseason beginning as early as this game. I also look for Tyler Hansbrough to get some quality minutes in hopes he can return to what he was for the Indiana Pacers. The Toronto Raptors are an established team that knows who they are and just wants to find some depth throughout its current roster.
While this is only a preseason game, the Toronto Raptors will be jacked up playing in the Rogers Arena. You have to think Toronto is playing this to win as they'll be in front of many first time fans with the game being played in Vancouver. I'll eat the small chalk here and back the Raptors.
