The Line: See the Latest Odds
The Brooklyn Nets will open up their 2014 preseason with a Tuesday matchup against Tel Aviv Maccabi at the Barclays Center.
Tel Aviv Maccabi lost Sunday to the Cleveland Cavaliers and didn’t exactly impress offensively. Tel Aviv Maccabi shot just 32.5 percent from the field and 25.8 percent from downtown. Sylven Landesberg led the way off the bench with a solid 23 points and point guard Jeremy Pargo led the starters with 18 points and five assists. Defensively, Tel Aviv Maccabi held the Cavs to 40.9 percent shooting and forced 12 turnovers but was outrebounded, 64-36. With a game under their belts, you can expect Tel Aviv Maccabi to shoot better and handle things a little better, especially Devin Smith who has previous NBA experience. However, the lack of size and inability to rebound are issues that aren’t going away for Tel Aviv Maccabi.

The Brooklyn Nets have to be optimistic about the upcoming season after a change at head coach and a few tweaks to their roster. The Nets are still one of the more experienced teams in the NBA led by Kevin Garnett, Joe Johnson, Deron Williams and Andrei Kirilenko. The Nets should also get a major boost with the return of center Brook Lopez, who missed much of last year with an injury. However, age is only going to take the Nets so far, as some of the younger guys need to emerge and help the older players out. The Nets have a few young players they’re hoping who can contribute including Cory Jefferson, Markel Brown and Marquis Teague. Alan Anderson should also see some increased minutes after showing some flashes of potential last season. The Brooklyn Nets need a splash of youth if they hope to do anything in the East this season.
There's no line on this game just yet. There may also not be a line given the fact an international team is playing. However, please check back later when and if a line is released.
