The Toronto Raptors and Sacramento Kings play another preseason game Tuesday at the Sleep Train Arena.
In the first preseason game between these two teams, the Toronto Raptors shot 44 percent from the field and 33 percent from downtown. DeMar DeRozan led the way with 21 points in 21 minutes and Louis Williams chipped in 12 points off the bench. The Raptors starting five is experienced and pretty much set, which means more minutes for some of the younger guys trying to earn some key playing time. Greg Stiemsma saw 17 minutes in the first preseason game and I’m sure he’d like to do more than foul out in his limited opportunities. James Johnson will also continue to see a bulk of playing time as the Raptors are hoping he can be a spark off the bench the same way he was for the Memphis Grizzlies last year.
USA TODAY Sports
In the Sacramento Kings first preseason game, they shot 46.9 percent from the field and 38.5 percent from three. If there’s one thing the Kings hope to improve it would be their inexcusable 27 turnovers that certainly helped contribute to their loss to the Raptors. The Kings are still trying to figure out who their starting shooting guard will be between Nik Stauskas and Ben McLemore, as the two split playing time in the first game and were pretty much even. Ramon Sessions was a solid contributor as backup point guard with 14 points, but you’d like to see him clean up his four turnovers. Rudy Gay’s 3-11 shooting in the first game will also have to improve if the Sacramento Kings are going to be the surprise team some think they can be. The Kings have a lot of things they can work on in this game and should be motivated to play better in front of their home fans.
Look for the Sacramento Kings to clean up their game a lot in this matchup and come out with the victory. The Kings were able to keep things close in the first game even with nearly 30 turnovers. At home, it will be a different outcome.
