NBA Basketball: Sunday
The Line: See the Latest Odds
The Detroit Pistons and Washington Wizards will play a Sunday preseason game at the Verizon Center.
The Detroit Pistons have won their first two preseason games and will take the road for the first time. The Pistons are coming off a brutal offensive performance against the Milwaukee Bucks, in which they shot just 38.3 percent from the field. However, the Pistons are working hard to improve on the defensive side of the ball, and they held the Bucks to just 36.5 percent shooting. The Pistons have also forced 45 turnovers in their first two games. Offensively, Kentavious Caldwell-Pope is coming off a 20-point performance and Greg Monroe has scored a combined 34 points in the first two games. Andre Drummond is coming off a double-double and expect Kyle Singler to continue to get a healthy workload as he takes a big step forward in his third season with Detroit.
USA TODAY Sports
The Washington Wizards are 2-1 in the preseason and coming off a 13-point loss to the Charlotte Hornets. Bradley Beal injured his wrist in the most recent game and likely won’t take part in this matchup. One player who is finally starting to put things together for Washington is Otto Porter Jr., who has scored a combined 26 points and grabbed seven rebounds in his last two games. If Porter can continue breaking out of his shell, the Wizards will have yet another young talented player to add to an already scary squad. In Xavier Silas first game for the Wizards, he grabbed four rebounds and scored 16 points in just 17 minutes. Expect Silas to get more playing time here in hopes he can repeat that performance. Paul Pierce played just nine minutes in the Wizards last game.
The Pistons have shown some promise in the preseason, while the Wizards are without one of its top players in Beal. I'm taking the points.
