NBA Player Updates 10/13: News From Around the League
It was a pretty good weekend for NBA action, as we saw some pretty significant developments (and a few injuries) over the past couple of days. That said, let’s dip into the headlines once again and see who’s in the news right now. Here’s the latest.
This weekend, we learned that Knicks forward Andrea Bargnani is dealing with a hamstring injury.
The issue kept him out of Saturday’s game, but the good news for the Knicks is that the injury has been deemed mild and he should be back to normal pretty soon. New York will need Bargnani to be healthy and contributing fully if they want to stand any chance of contributing in the East.

The Warriors’ Andre Iguodala suffered a broken nose during an exhibition game this preseason, and as a result he’ll be wearing a protective mask as his injury heals up.
That’s good news for the Warriors; As long as Iguodala can get used to playing with his protective gear he should be just fine. He’s coming off a 9.3 PPG average last year and will be looking to get that into double-digits during the 2014-15 campaign.
Shocking news out of Oklahoma City this weekend. The Thunder announced yesterday that star forward Kevin Durant has sustained a fracture in his foot. He’ll miss anywhere from 6-8 weeks.
If that diagnosis holds true and Durant sticks to the timeline, he’ll miss the first month of the season at the very least. It’s a devastating blow to the Thunder as they try to get off to a good start in 2014-15. Durant posted a career-high 32.0 PPG last season and won NBA Most Valuable Player honors.
Similarly, the Wizards announced some bad news yesterday. Guard Bradley Beal underwent surgery on his wrist and will be out for the next six weeks.
All of that considered, Beal is on track to return sooner than he was originally expected. He hurt himself in preseason action on Friday.
