The Houston Rockets and New Orleans Pelicans will play a preseason game Tuesday night at the Smoothie King Center.
The Houston Rockets improved to 3-0 in the preseason with a win Monday over the Phoenix Suns. The Rockets are doing a great job of putting the ball in the hoop and the production is coming from just about everybody. Whether it’s James Harden putting on a show, Trevor Ariza knocking down threes or Terrence Jones pulling off one of his usual surprises, the Rockets look to be in regular season form this early in the scrimmages. Dwight Howard has missed the last two games with a knee injury, but he should be ready to go by the time the real season begins. Harden’s status remains questionable as he missed the Rockets last game with a minor injury and Jason Terry has returned to practice and may participate in a preseason game sooner than later.
USA TODAY Sports
The New Orleans Pelicans haven’t played a preseason game since last Wednesday and have lost their last two contests. The Pelicans have struggled putting the ball in the hoop, shooting less than 40 percent from the field in their last two games. Anthony Davis has scored 27 points in the preseason and Eric Gordon has scored in the double digits in his last two games. Tyreke Evans continues to miss time with a hamstring injury but hopes to return as early as this Thursday. Ryan Anderson has been an excellent player for New Orleans so far, as he’s racked up 40 points and rookie Russ Smith has shown flashes of promise throughout the first three games. The New Orleans Pelicans are a young team that continues to improve and show glimpses of hope.
Any time you get the Houston Rockets and the points I suggest taking them. Houston is a scoring machine even in the preseason and will always give itself a chance to win games.
