The Denver Nuggets and Los Angeles Clippers play a Saturday night preseason game at the Mandalay Bay Event Center.
The Denver Nuggets are 1-4 in preseason play and have lost three straight games. The Nuggets have spent the preseason tweaking their offense and becoming the up-tempo, run-and-gun team they hope to be this season. Kenneth Faried looks to be in regular season form and the FIBA competition clearly helped him, as he’s scored 30 points and grabbed 11 rebounds in his last two games. Ty Lawson has produced 21 assists in his last three games and Timofey Mozgov has 42 points in his last three contests. The one player Denver really has to be impressed with is rookie Gary Harris, who has done a fine job of finding his shot and setting his teammates up in limited playing time. Despite the poor record, the Denver Nuggets should be a fun team this season.

The Los Angeles Clippers picked up their first win of the preseason Friday night over the Utah Jazz, and they’re now 1-3 overall. Blake Griffin has scored in the double digits in three of the four games and seems to have taken his game to an even greater level than a season ago. Chris Paul has 20 assists in his last two games and produced three steals in the win over the Jazz. What should really make Clippers’ fans happy is the fact Jamal Crawford has scored 20-plus points in each of his last two games off the bench. Newly acquired Spencer Hawes is also coming off his best performance in which he scored 24 points and grabbed six rebounds in 23 minutes. The Los Angeles Clippers are slowly starting to look like they’re in regular season mode.
Both teams have impressed me this preseason, but I'm really high on the Clippers this season. Give me LA and the small chalk.
