The Line: See the Latest Odds
The Utah Jazz and Los Angeles Lakers play a Sunday preseason game at the STAPLES Center.
The Utah Jazz suffered their first preseason loss Friday against the Los Angeles Clippers and are 4-1 overall. Gordon Hayward has led the charge for the Jazz, as he’s dropped 48 points in his last three games. Trey Burke is also coming off his best game of the preseason, as he scored 21 points and had six assists in the loss to the Clippers. The one Utah player who has really impressed has been Derrick Favors, who has two double doubles in his last three games. Even rookie Rodney Hood has shined during his opportunities, shooting 10-15 from the field in his last three games. Many don’t expect the Utah Jazz to be good this season but an impressive preseason could go a long way for this team when the games really count.
USA TODAY Sports
The Los Angeles Lakers have lost three straight preseason games and are 1-3 overall. While the results may not have Lakers’ fans thrilled, Kobe Bryant is coming off his best performance of the preseason where he scored 27 points and had four assists in 28 minutes. Of course, a dominant and healthy Kobe would do wonders for the Lakers success. Carlos Boozer looks to be in better shape than he was his last season with the Chicago Bulls and has scored a combined 27 points in his last two games. Byron Scott announced that he isn’t big on the three-ball, which is good considering the Lakers are just 1-19 from downtown in their last three contests. Rookie Julius Randle hasn’t done much on the scoring end, but he has grabbed 14 rebounds in his last three games. The Los Angeles Lakers remain a mystery as we get closer to the regular season.
I'm not sure I can turn down the Lakers and the points in this matchup. LA is playing decent basketball and should be able to compete at the STAPLES Center.
