The Los Angeles Clippers and the Phoenix Suns face off on Wednesday at the Staples Center as they wind down the 2014 NBA Preseason.
The Los Angeles Clippers are just 1-4 this preseason as they are just going through the motions waiting for the start of regular season. The Clippers last played on Saturday in Las Vegas where they were crushed by Denver. Blake Griffin played 31 minutes in the loss and pumped in 27 points and grabbed five rebounds. Jamal Crawford had 23 points, Chris Paul had 13 points and nine assists, and C.J. Wilcox had 10 points. The real issue for the Clippers was they shot just 37 percent from the floor and had just six steals while they allowed the Nuggets to shoot 45.8 percent. The Clippers are looking to take it to the next level this season but we are going to have to see more from them if they hope to make that happen.

The Phoenix Suns have played just four preseason games and they have won three of them but they are playing back-to-back nights after beating the Lakers in overtime. Isaiah Thomas led the Suns with 26 points playing 31 minutes. Gerald Green scored 21 points, Goran Dragic had 15 points, and Eric Bledsoe had 11 points and seven rebounds. The Suns shot 41.3 percent from the floor but allowed the Lakers to shoot 50 percent but they outrebounded the Lakers 45-41. Phoenix looks to be an up and coming team with a nice young core of players and should take a step forward this year.
The Clippers are 0-4 against the spread following a game that they allowed more than 100 points, and 0-4 against the spread in their last four home games. The Under is 5-0-1 in Phoenix’s last six games on no days rest ad 8-1 in games following a game that they covered the point spread. The under is 10-3-1 in the last 14 meetings of these two.
The under looks like almost a certainty but for my picks against the number I look for the Clippers to get it done.
