NBA Player Updates 10/23: News From Around the League
We’ll be seeing 2014-15 NBA regular-season basketball in just five days, so the countdown to meaningful play is on. While we’re waiting on those tip-offs, there are plenty of storylines to follow. Let’s check in on some of the top stories from across the league.
The Hornets’ Gerald Henderson won’t be playing tonight after all, contrary to some earlier reports. He ruled himself out yesterday due to his hamstring--the same issue that’s kept him sidelined most of the month.
Henderson may end up playing in a scrimmage this weekend, but it remains to be seen what his status will be going forward.

The Grizzlies made some roster moves yesterday, cutting Earl Clark and Hassan Whiteside.
Clark is a journeyman small forward and Whiteside (center) last played for Sacramento in 2011-12.
The Suns’ T.J. Warren injured his left thumb on Tuesday during the preseason game against the Lakers. That’ll be something to keep an eye on during the near future.
Here’s one for the weird news file. Trail Blazers center Chris Kaman suffered a laceration on his head on Tuesday night. He was inadvertently bitten on the head by the Nuggets’ Timofey Mozgov when Mozgov fell onto Kaman during a play, making contact with his teeth on Kaman’s head. The play was accidental, but it certainly was odd.
The Suns’ Zoran Dragic was back with the team yesterday. He’d previously missed a little time due to issues with his visa.
The Wizards’ Kris Humphries underwent surgery on his hand early this month, but if all goes well he should be back to 100 percent in time for next week’s season opener against the Heat.
Humphries hurt his hand in the first game of preseason action. He came to Washington off a sign-and-trade deal with the Celtics this summer. We’ll see if he can regain form this year in a new environment.
