The Utah Jazz kick off their season with a visit from the Houston Rockets tonight.
The Rockets hit the ground running with a massive 108-90 win over the Lakers last night thanks to 32 points from James Harden and 16 points apiece from Terrence Jones and Trevor Ariza. Dwight Howard also added 13 points and 11 rebounds but battled foul trouble all night and played just 21 minutes which was still plenty of time to elbow Kobe Bryant in the face and earn himself a flagrant foul. Other than that little bit of heated drama, it was quite an easy win for the Rockets but it didn't really give us much to look at because they gained an early double digit lead and never looked in danger of losing.

Meanwhile, the Utah Jazz will be eager to kick off their season in similar fashion after starting 2013-14 with eight straight losses. In the summer, the Jazz made no notable moves other than drafting Dante Exum with the fifth overall pick in the NBA Draft. Gordon Hayward will still be asked to carry the majority of the scoring load while Trey Burke will be looking to build on his solid rookie year. The only other notable new face to the team is coach Snyder who will need to find a way to improve the teams defense after Utah finished second last in defense last season. Given that the team added no defensive specialists to their squad, the only logical move would be to employ an up-tempo offense for this super young roster.
Playing on the second night of a back to back set is usually a pretty tough thing to overcome, but surely the Rockets can't be tired this early in the season, so I'm taking them to make it back to back wins to start the season.
