The Boston Celtics and Houston Rockets play Saturday night at the Toyota Center.
The Boston Celtics crushed the Brooklyn Nets in their season opener, 121-105. The Celtics shot a lights out 55.7 percent from the field and forced the Nets into 20 turnovers. The Celtics had eight players score in the double figures, as Kelly Olynyk led the way with 19 points and Jeff Green wasn’t far behind with 17 points. Rajon Rondo, who wasn’t expected to be available due to a hand injury, played 30 minutes and was 6-9 from the field with 12 assists. Rookie Marcus Smart was 3-7 from the field for 10 points and four steals. Gerald Wallace, who didn’t play in the season opener, is listed as probable with a knee injury. Overall, Boston fans have to be thrilled with the Celtics performance. Sure, it was just one game but the Celtics were expected to be one of the worst teams in the league and didn’t play like it in their first contest.

The Houston Rockets are 2-0 and will play their first home game of the season. The Rockets are letting their offense lead the way as usual, as they’re shooting 47.3 percent from the field and 46.4 percent from downtown. James Harden is averaging 25 points per game and eight assists, while Dwight Howard has chipped in an average of 17.5 points per game and 10.5 rebounds. Terrence Jones and the newly acquired Trevor Ariza are the other two Houston players averaging in the double digits. Defensively, the Houston Rockets are allowing teams to shoot 41.3 percent from the field and 21.4 percent from three. Patrick Beverley injured his hamstring in the last game and remains questionable for this contest. The Rockets can start the season 3-0 for the second straight year.
The Celtics are 4-10 ATS in their last 14 vs. Western Conference and 5-2 ATS in their last 7 games playing on 2 days rest. The Rockets are 2-5 ATS in their last 7 vs. Eastern Conference and 6-0 ATS in their last 6 games overall. The Celtics are 2-6 ATS in the last 8 meetings, while the home team is 5-1 ATS in the last 6 meetings.
The chalk on this game is insane, especially with the way the Boston Celtics played in their season opener. Sure, we can't expect the Celtics to play that way every game and the wheels may fall off sooner or later, but give what we've seen so far, Boston deserves a little more credit than this. I'll take my chances with the boatload of points considering the Rockets aren't the best defensive team in the world.
