The Memphis Grizzlies will be hosting the New Orleans Pelicans on Monday night at the FedExForum.
The Memphis Grizzlies perfect on the season so far, having a record of 3-0 on the season with wins over the Timberwolves, Pacers and Hornets. In their last outing, the Grizzlies defeated the Hornets 71-69. As the score would suggest, this was a very defensive game, but as we’ve seen in the past few seasons, that is to be expected with this Memphis team. Marc Gasol led the Grizzlies offensively against the Hornets, scoring 22 on the night, while the only other Grizzly with double digit points on the night was Randolph, who finished with 12 against the Hornets.
USA TODAY Sports
The New Orleans Pelicans are 1-1 this season, and are coming off a tough loss to the Mavs on Saturday, falling 109-104. The Pelicans are playing some solid ball in this early season, getting a win against the Magic, and keeping up with the Mavs. The Pelicans are currently the best rebounding team in the league right now, and even though the season is a bit too young to put a ton of stock in stats, the Pelicans also have a top ten defense. New Orleans has been getting some solid play from Anthony Davis this season, who is averaging 28.5 points per game.
The Pelicans are 3-1 against the spread in their last four games against the Memphis Grizzlies, and the Pelicans are 3-1 overall against the Grizzlies in their last four.
I have to go with the under here. This is a game that will likely be decided in the paint. The Pelicans are one of the best offenses in the league at scoring inside, while the Grizzlies are outstanding defensively against points in the paint. This will be a physical and grueling game, which usually leads to a slower pace and less points, which I believe we will see here on Monday.
