The Portland Trailblazers and the Los Angeles Clippers meet for a Saturday afternoon showdown.
Bouncing back from a slow start to the season, the Portland Trailblazers look to be one of the hottest teams at the moment with back to back wins over the Cavaliers and the Mavericks. On Thursday night, the Blazers looked a bit sluggish against the Mavs to start the game, but were able to flip the game on its head in a dominant second half where they outscored the Mavs by 62-37. LaMarcus Aldridge led the scoring with 20 points while Damian Lillard added 18, but it was really their stifling defense that was impressive, holding the Mavs to 36.7 percent shooting and just 87 points, way below their average of nearly 112 points. With the win, Portland improves to 3-2 on the season and 3-1 at home.

Meanwhile, the Los Angeles Clippers will still be licking their wounds after getting thumped by the Warriors 121-104 on Wednesday night. Chris Paul put up nice numbers with 15 points and 12 assists while Jamal Crawford scored 24 points off the bench, but this game was over early as the Clippers fell behind by 65-42 at halftime and never looked threatening. I don't know what it is with this team, but other than CP3, this team just isn't engaged enough on both sides of the floor. With the loss, LA fall to 3-2 on the season and 1-1 on the road.
In ATS trends, the Blazers are 2-5 ATS in their last seven games following a win and 0-5 ATS in their last five road games, while the Clippers are 5-1 ATS in their last six games following a loss of more than 10 points and 0-7 ATS in their last seven home games.
I really don't know what to make of this game, because the Clippers should be able to beat the Blazers at home after a lengthy break, but they just haven't shown me enough at this early stage of the season. I don't have the stats to support my pick, but I have to follow my gut which is telling me to take the Blazers with the points.
