The Washington Wizards will be hosting the Detroit Pistons on Wednesday night at the Verizon Center.
The Washington Wizards are off to a strong start this season, as the Wizards are sitting at 5-2 overall on the season, thanks to a solid, top ten scoring defense. The Wizards come into this meeting with the Pistons having won four out of their last five, including a win on Saturday against the Pacers in Indiana, 97-90. Leading this Wizards team offensively is John Wall, who is scoring an average of 19 points per outing. As a whole, this Wizards offense isn’t the most exciting to watch in the league, but if Washington continues their strong defensive play, the Wizards should continue to be a tricky out.

The Detroit PIstons are essentially the polar opposite of the Wizards right now, as the PIstons are sitting at 2-5 on the season. Detroit is playing well defensively, and is one of the better rebounding teams in the league, but the offense just hasn’t been there for Detroit, as the Pistons are averaging just 91.9 points per game. Detroit got beat up in their last outing, falling to the Bulls 102-91 on Monday in Chicago.
The Pistons are 6-2 against the spread in their last eight games against the Wizards, and Detroit is 6-2 overall in their last eight against Washington.
I’m going with the Pistons in this spot. The Wizards are the better team, but I like the way this Detroit team matches up with the Wizards. I don’t necessarily believe the PIstons get the outright win over Washington, but getting better than three buckets with Detroit looks like the right side here.
