Derrick Rose and the Chicago Bulls pay a visit to the Toronto Raptors on NBA Thursday.
Once again the Chicago Bulls remain one of the most consistent and dependable teams in the league, but we all know their championship aspirations hinge on the health of Derrick Rose. On Monday, all eyes were on Rose in his return from sprained ankles and he looked as sharp as ever, scoring a game-high 24 points and seven assists. Jimmy Butler added 19 points with three threes and Pau Gasol stuffed the stat sheet with 17 points, 15 rebounds and four assists as the Bulls beat the Pistons by 102-91. I might be a little early to say that Rose is back to MVP-caliber play, but in terms of his health, he looked to be back to his freakish best on Monday.

Just like the Bulls, the Toronto Raptors have started the season strongly, winning seven of their first eight overall including their first five at home. However, there were definite signs of overconfidence in the Raptors on Tuesday as they didn't respect the 2-6 Magic and were outplayed for three quarters of the game. Fortunately, the Raptors' second unit came to the rescue in the fourth with an 11-0 run to turn the game back on its head and allow the starters to seal the win. Kyle Lowry led the way with 19 points and seven assists while Terrence Ross hit four treys on his way to 17 points, but the difference in the game was in the bench scoring where the Raptors outscored the Magic by 36-14.
In ATS trends, the Bulls are 4-10 ATS in their last 14 games overall and 1-8 ATS in their last nine games following a win, while the Raptors are 4-1 ATS in their last five home games and 5-2 ATS in their last seven games following a win.
Head to head, the Bulls are 3-9 ATS in the last 12 meetings overall but the Road team is 4-0 ATS in the last four meetings.
The Raptors are a perfect 5-0 at home so far this season but the Bulls are a perfect 4-0 on the road, so something's got to give here. You can't really split these two teams the way they've played so far, but I have to give the edge to the Bulls now that they have Rose back on the court.
