The Miami Heat travel to the Philips Arena to take on the Atlanta Hawks tonight.
The Miami Heat kicked off the season with three straight wins but have since lost three of their last five, including an 81-75 home loss against the Pacers on Wednesday. Dwyane Wade led the scoring with 20 points while Shawne Williams added 15, but no other player finished in double figures as the Heat finished with their lowest point total this season. The Heat are currently ranked 29th in the league in rebounds per game so it was always going to be a struggle against the Pacers, but they absolutely got owned on the boards by 53-28. Chris Bosh has been the Heat's best player this season, but struggled mightily against Roy Hibbert, scoring a season-low nine points on three of 13 shooting, way below his season average of 21.8 points per game. With the loss, Miami fall to 5-3 on the season and 3-2 at home.

Meanwhile, the Atlanta Hawks lost three of their first four games to start the season but have since reeled off three straight, including an impressive 100-97 comeback win over the Jazz on Wednesday. Kyle Korver continued his strong start to the season with 17 points, 10 rebounds and six assists but was outshone by Paul Millsap who feasted on his former team, scoring season highs of 30 points and 17 rebounds. Despite those impressive stats, I was even more impressed with the Hawks' defense in the fourth quarter, holding the Jazz to just nine points after allowing 34 points in the third. With the win, Atlanta improves to 4-3 on the season and a perfect 3-0 at home.
In ATS trends, the Heat are 7-3 ATS in their last 10 against the Eastern Conference and 1-4 ATS in their last five games playing on one days rest, while the Hawks are 2-5 ATS in their last seven games following a win and 1-4 ATS in their last five home games.
Head to head, the Heat are 7-2 ATS in the last nine meetings in Atlanta and 13-6 ATS in the last 19 meetings overall.
The Heat have dominated the Hawks in recent meetings, but I'm sure I don't have to remind you that the Heat are a different team this season. I really like the Hawks against the undersized Heat and I think they'll have too much of an advantage on the boards in this one. I'm rolling with the home team once the line is released for this game.
