The Brooklyn Nets and Portland Trail Blazers play Saturday night at the Moda Center.
The Brooklyn Nets look to move a game above .500 but are just 1-4 SU on the road. The Nets offense has been carrying the way, as they’re averaging 103.9 points on 47.9 percent shooting from the field. The Brooklyn Nets have won nine of their last 12 regular season games when scoring 100-plus points. Joe Johnson leads the Nets with 19 points per game and is third with 5.6 rebounds, while Deron Williams is chipping in 18.6 points and 6.5 assists. Brook Lopez has scored 16 or more points in three of his last four games and Kevin Garnett is 10-22 from the field in his last three games. As usual, the Brooklyn Nets defense has been their downfall, as they’re giving up 101 points on 45.5 percent shooting. If the Nets hope to get a decent seed in the East, they have to start winning on the road.
USA TODAY Sports
The Portland Trail Blazers have found their groove with wins in five of their last six games, which includes a 5-1 SU record at home. The Trail Blazers offense has really picked up like I thought it would, as they’re producing 105.4 points on 45.5 percent shooting. The Portland Trail Blazers have won 16 of their last 17 regular season games when scoring 100-plus points. LaMarcus Aldridge leads Portland with 21.9 points, but he’s considered doubtful with an illness. Meanwhile, Damian Lillard is averaging 19.8 points and 6.2 assists, while Robin Lopez is averaging 12.4 points and 7.2 rebounds. The Portland Trail Blazers defense has also been solid, allowing 97.2 points on 42 percent shooting. If this type of play can continue, the Trail Blazers look to be a force come playoff time in the West.
The Nets are 9-3 ATS in their last 12 vs. Western Conference and 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games following a ATS win. The Trail Blazers are 9-4 ATS in their last 13 vs. Eastern Conference and 5-1 ATS in their last 6 games overall. The under is 4-1 in the last 5 meetings in Portland.
Without LaMarcus Aldridge in the lineup, I'm going to take my chances with the experienced Nets and the points. The Nets have been great ATS against Western teams and have enough shotmakers to keep this close when Portland is missing its top player.
