The Philadelphia 76ers look to avoid matching the worst start in franchise history when it hosts the struggling Brooklyn Nets tonight.
The Philadelphia 76ers are just one loss away from matching the 1972-73 Sixers for the worst start in team history. The Sixers have lost all 14 games to start the season and are coming off a 114-104 loss against the Trailblazers where they allowed LaMarcus Aldridge to pour in 33 points on 13 of 20 shooting. Michael Carter-Williams led the scoring with 24 points, Henry Sims added 22 while Tony Wroten had 20, but the Sixers couldn't capitalize on a strong start to the game, allowing the Blazers to pour in 39 points in the third quarter and outscore them 64-52 in the second half.

Meanwhile, the Brooklyn Nets haven't exactly been piling up the wins themselves, so you could say that they've actually been more disappointing. The Nets won four of their first six games to start the season but have since lost six of their last seven, including a 99-87 loss at San Antonio on Saturday where they shot just 37.4 percent as a team. Deron Williams put in a nice night of 24 points and seven assists while Mirza Teletovic added 22 points, but the slow starts for the Nets continued as they fell behind by 51-36 at at halftime and never looked threatening.
Looking at ATS trends, the Sixers are 7-1 ATS in their last eight games following a double-digit loss at home and 9-14 ATS in their last 13 home games, while the Nets are 10-4 ATS in their last 14 games following a loss of more than 10 points and 1-4 ATS in their last five games overall.
Head to head, the Nets are 5-12 ATS in the last 17 meetings overall and the Under is 13-6 in the last 19 meetings in Philadelphia.
Call me a cock-eyed optimist, but I actually think the Sixers will pull the upset tonight and register their first win of the season. I wouldn't bet my money on it myself, but this just looks like a good a spot as any for the Sixers to finally get that elusive W.
