The Indiana Pacers ,ay be getting a couple key players back tonight when they host the Orlando Magic.
The Indiana Pacers as shorthanded as they've been, are just 6-9 on the season but have been playing quite well lately to win five of their last eight games overall. However, their best just wasn't good enough on Wednesday as they lost by 106-100 to the consistent Spurs. Rodney Stuckey led the scoring with 22 points while Chris Copeland and Luis Scola scored 12 and 13 points respectively, but in a tightly contested match, it was Manu Ginobili and the Spurs who executed better in the second half and escaped with the narrow win. Obviously, the win would have been a big victory for the fiesty Pacers, but considering the long list of injuries, it was quite a moral victory anyway. In terms of player availability, David West and Roy Hibbert could both return to the court tonight which would be a massive boost for the team.
Meanwhile, the Orlando Magic have had their own set of injuries to worry about this season but it hasn't really showed much until recently. The Magic were on a strong run of four wins from six outings but have since lost three straight after getting thumped by the Warriors on Wednesday. Tobias Harris led six players in double figures with 16 points while Ben Gordon and Elfrid Payton added 13 points each, but the Magic just had no answer for Stephen Curry who lit them up with six threes for 28 points. Victor Oladipo really struggled and finished with just 12 points on four of 17 shooting while Nikola Vucevic missed on numerous easy shots to finish with just 11 points after totalling 51 points in his previous two outings. With the loss, Orlando drops to 6-11 overall and 2-5 at home.
In ATS trends, the Magic are 6-1 ATS in their last seven road games but just 1-4 ATS in their last five games overall, while the Pacers are 5-1 ATS in their last six games following a loss and 0-3-1 ATS in their last four games against a team with a losing record.
Head to head, the Magic are 1-4 ATS in the last five meetings in Indiana and the Under is 19-7 in the last 26 meetings.
Obviously, the availability of West and Hibbert will have a big impact on the Pacers' ability to match up with the Magic so the bookies have yet to release the line for this game, but please be sure to check back before tipoff for my free pick.
Hibbert won't suit up tonight but West is confirmed to start so the Pacers are favored by five points at home which looks like a small enough number for them to cover.
