The New York Knicks look to snap a six-game skid tonight when they visit the Charlotte Hornets.
The New York Knicks have simply struggled all season with their new coach and new offense, but it looked like they were about to turn the corner last night with a big win over the Cavaliers... before they lost again. Tim Hardaway started the game on fire and made four three pointers on his way to a team-high 20 points while Amar'e Stoudemire had 18 points as the Knicks out-hustled and outplayed the Cavaliers for most of the game before imploding in a 22-14 fourth quarter. Carmelo Anthony continued his struggles with just nine points on four of 19 shooting, but the Knicks could have still won the game if they could only stop Kyrie Irving who lit them up for 37 points on 12 of 18 shooting. With the loss, NY drops to 4-16 overall and 3-8 at home.
Playing just as poorly as the Knicks is the Charlotte Hornets who have now lost 10 straight after falling to the Bulls by 102-95 on Wednesday. Kemba Walker led the way with 23 points, while Lance Stephenson had one of his best games with 20 points, but the biggest differences in the game was in the bench scoring which is where the Hornets were outscored by 30-17 and at the three point line where the Bulls made 12 of 28 compared to the Hornets' two of 15. With the loss, Charlotte falls to 4-15 on the season and 3-7 at home.
In ATS trends, the Knicks are 6-2 ATS in their last eight games playing on zero days rest and 4-11 ATS in their last 15 games overall, while the Hornets are 1-5 ATS in their last six home games and 1-7-2 ATS in their last 10 games overall.
Head to head, the Knicks are 2-6 ATS in the last eight meetings and the Over is 7-0-1 in the last eight meetings overall.
I definitely won't be betting on this game at all because neither of these two teams have been anything fun to watch this season. However, Carmelo doesn't quite look to be at full health, so I do think the Hornets will come out on top in this one, especially after the gutsy effort they showed me in their loss against the Bulls.
