NBA Player Updates 12/22: The Latest News from Around the League, Tonight's TV Schedule and More
December 22, 2014
We’re in the midst of a pretty steady run of busy days around the NBA, and we’ve got seven more matchups coming our way tonight. While we’re waiting, let’s check out some of the notable players and teams out there in our daily wrap-up.
Knicks-Raptors: Yesterday in Toronto, the Raptors took care of business against the lowly Knicks, finishing off New York 118-108. Toronto now has six straight wins, with each coming against an East opponent with a losing record.
The Raptors’ Lou Williams and Kyle Lowry each put up 22 points in this one, which brought the team’s record to 22-6.
Toronto’s next six games will be against significantly better opponents, so we’ll get to see what they’re made of in the next several days when they head out West.

Grizzlies-Cavs: Dion Waiters was big in the fourth quarter of this one, putting up 13 of his 21 points in that period alone. The result was a 105-91 Cavaliers victory at home, which dropped Memphis to 21-6.
LeBron James helped out with 25 points and 11 assists here, while Anderson Varejao added 18 and Kyrie Irving doubled up on 17 points and 12 helpers.
Cleveland is now 11-3 in their last 14 games after starting 5-7 on the year.
Nets-Pistons: Without Deron Williams, the Nets had a little trouble closing out the Pistons last night. They got the job done eventually, however, finishing off Detroit 110-105.
Mason Plumlee posted 21 points--10 coming in the fourth quarter--to help hold off a Pistons rally that saw the score 106-105 at one point late in the fourth. Plumlee also had 12 rebounds in a double-double.
Brooklyn had 29 assists in this game, which tied their season high.
Kings-Lakers: Sacramento came into this game on a five-game losing skid, but a home contest against the Lakers was just the cure for their ails. The Kings snagged a victory 108-101 on the strength of DeMarcus Cousins’ 29 points and 14 rebounds. Cousins was playing in just his second game since returning from an illness (viral meningitis). Rudy Gay posted 24 of his own while Ben McLemore put up 23 with eight rebounds. They’re 10-7 when Cousins plays.
