The Dallas Mavericks invade the Staples Center to take on the Los Angeles Clippers today.
The Dallas Mavericks just had their six-game win streak snapped on Wednesday in a surprise upset loss to the streaking Pistons. Dirk Nowitzki led the way with 19 points while Monta Ellis added 16, but the Mavs were just flat against the red-hot Pistons and it cost them a 108-95 defeat. Prior to this loss the Mavs had solid wins over the Cavs and the Nets so this was really a rare occurrence and nothing to worry about, especially because the Mavs are still 26-11 on the season and 13-6 at home.

Meanwhile, the Los Angeles Clippers are starting to build some momentum now with five wins in their last seven games including a 114-89 rout of the Lakers on Wednesday. Blake Griffin had a monster game of 27 points, eight rebounds and nine assists while Chris Paul added 24 points and 11 assists as the Clippers led the Lakers by as many as 36 points before taking it easy in the fourth quarter. With the win, LA improved to 24-12 overall and 16-5 at home.
In ATS trends, the Mavs are 5-1 ATS in their last six games overall but just 2-7 ATS in their last nine against a team with a winning record, while the Clippers are 2-6 ATS in their last eight games following a win and 1-4 ATS in their last five games following a win of more than 10 points.
Head to head, the Mavs are 12-5 ATS in the last 17 meetings overall and a dominant 8-2 ATS in the last 10 meetings in Los Angeles.
This is the first of four regular season meetings between these teams and I have to say that this one really could go either way. The home court advantage had me leaning towards the Clippers at first, but I actually think the Mavs should be good enough to escape with the win, but we'll take the points for extra security.
