The Line: New Orleans Pelicans -8 -- Over/Under: See the Latest Odds

TV:

The Los Angeles Lakers travel to the Smoothie King Center to battle the New Orleans Pelicans tonight.

The Los Angeles Lakers have lost seven of their last eight overall and are coming off a fifth straight loss after falling to the Suns by 115-100 on Monday. With Kobe Bryant once again missing from the lineup, the Lakers leaned heavily on Nick Young who had 24 points, but other than 12 points each from Wesley Johnson and Jordan Hill, the Lakers were rather toothless in the second half when the Suns slipped into another gear started to pour on the points. Of course, the line won't be out for this game until the availability of Kobe is confirmed, but currently he is still listed as "questionable" for this game.

USA TODAY Sports

Meanwhile, the New Orleans Pelicans have continued their terribly inconsistent season with one of their worst losses of the season, falling to the season-worst Knicks by 99-92 on Monday. Tyreke Evans had a strong game of 23 points while Eric Gordon added 20 points and five assists, but once again the Pelicans struggled without the one-two punch of Jrue Holiday and Anthony Davis who have both been injured. Ryan Anderson usually steps up and fills most of the void but had a shocker of just 11 points on 4 of 17 shooting. After getting crushed by the lowly Sixers on Friday night, I really thought it couldn't get worse for the Pelicans, but I guess I was wrong.

In ATS trends, the Lakers are 0-4 ATS in the last four games following a loss and 0-5 ATS in their last five games overall, while the Pelicans are 4-1 ATS in their last five home games and 18-7-1 ATS in their last 26 games following a loss.

Head to head, the Lakers are 8-3 ATS in the last 11 meetings in New Orleans and the Road team is 25-9 ATS in the last 34 meetings overall.

Holiday is still listed as questionable for this game, but Davis' status has been upgraded to probable which is a major boost for the slumping Pelicans. Meanwhile, Kobe did not practice on Tuesday so it is unlikely that he'll suit up tonight but be sure to double check before tipoff. With all things being considered, I like the Pelicans chances of getting back into the winner's circle tonight with win of around 10 points.
