The Dallas Mavericks host the Chicago Bulls in an ESPN spotlight game on Friday night.
The Chicago Bulls were in action last night, winning in dominant fashion 104-81 over the Spurs. The win was much needed for Chicago after dropping six of eight games prior. The Bulls now sit at 28-16 looking to build on their impressive 15-6 mark away from home. Keeping up the defensive intensity could be challenging for the Bulls in a back-to-back setting against the high-powered Mavericks offense. Chicago is allowing 99.3 points per game to rank 15th in the league, a departure from previous seasons when defense was the team’s calling card. Derrick Rose will look to lead the charge on offense after scoring 22 last night including some signature drives to the rim. Chicago will hope that Jimmy Butler and Pau Gasol can supplement Rose’s efforts in this contest.
USA TODAY Sports
The Dallas Mavericks enter this game rested and sitting at 30-13 on the year with a 14-6 mark at home. The Mavericks enter this contest on a three game win streak, having obliterated the Timberwolves in their latest outing on Wednesday. The Mavericks are scoring 108.1 points per game to rank second in the league, but the defense hasn’t been as impressive conceding 101.7 points to rank 23rd. The Mavericks have only gotten stronger though with the addition of Rajon Rondo at point guard, and with Dirk Nowitzki, Monta Ellis and Chandler Parsons all gelling together, this is simply a dangerous team to defend and keep up with. The Mavericks bench also got plenty of work last game which gives the team options for multiple looks in this game.
The Bulls flexed their defensive muscles against the Spurs last night but I don’t see them replicating that success in this spot. Look for the Mavericks to pull away in the second half of this one.
