The Cleveland Cavaliers destroyed the LA Clippers 105-94 on Thursday night to extend their winning streak to 12 games. Kevin Love led all scorers with 24 points and also hauled in nine rebounds to dispel any myth of his offensive game being in a funk. LeBron James was of course active as well with 23 points and nine assists; the Cavs attempted 40 foul shots in the win, with Love and James combining for 19. The Cavs are definitely on a nice roll, but it's important to note that six of their last eight games have been against sub-.500 foes. The pattern of beating those foes should probably continue here with the Pacers winless against winning teams since the turn of the year. Whether the Cavs can cover the number playing in consecutive nights could actually be a little less certain though.
The Indiana Pacers are just 18-32 on the year but surprisingly that's not too far back from the playoff pack in the weaker East. The Pacers picked up a win last time out against the Pistons, scoring an uncharacteristic 114 points. George Hill scored 20 points and added six assists and Roy Hibbert dominated down low with 16 points and 12 rebounds. C.J. Watson and C.J. Miles each went 4-6 from deep as well, an interesting threat that could be developing in a largely stagnant Pacers offense. While the Indiana offense ranks 26th, their defense does rank 6th allowing just 97.2 points per game. The Pacers will definitely have their hands full on defense in this contest though.
The Cavaliers should pick up the win here but the cover seems less certain so I will take a chance on the over with hopes that the Pacers struggle to slow down the Cavs and also maybe found some scoring punch recently to keep up.
