NBA Trade Deadline Updates: Potential Moves and Hot Topic Players Involved in Trade Talks Right Now
February 19, 2015
Today marks the NBA trade deadline for 2015, and we’ve already seen some last-minute rumblings over the past several hours. Be prepared for some more action as teams get desperate in the 11th hour today. Let’s take a look at the current scene and address some of the rumors out there that could come to fruition as time runs out today.
The Mavericks formally announced the Amar’e Stoudemire signing yesterday, which was the scenario most people believed would play out.
The team cut guard Ricky Ledo to create roster space for Stoudemire, who was bought out by the Knicks earlier this week. Ledo played in just five games for Dallas this season.

Kevin Garnett could be gone from Brooklyn in the next several hours. The Timberwolves are reportedly very active in trying to acquire him from the Nets and bring him back to the team in which he spent his first dozen NBA seasons.
The 38-year-old Garnett was a 10-time All-Star in Minnesota before being traded to Boston in 2007.
A potential deal being thrown out there is Thaddeus Young for Garnett, but the latter has a no-trade clause in his contract and would have to waive it before anything gets done.
In other Nets news, Joe Johnson acknowledged last night that his name has been involved in trade talks. Whether or not he’ll get moved or not is another story.
There don’t seem to be too many players whom the Nets aren’t necessarily willing to trade, so a last-minute fire sale is conceivable.
Denver is swimming in offers for SG Arron Afflalo, and some new teams have thrown their proverbial hats into the ring.
The Trail Blazers are still the frontrunners to get Afflalo, and it’s believed they’ll be giving up a first-round pick if they get him. We could see a late-emerging dark horse candidate in the 11th hour, however.
Speaking of the Nuggets, the team has reportedly been listening to offers from multiple teams on guard Ty Lawson.
That said, none of the offers has been good enough yet for the team to consider trading him. So, unless something comes in at the last minute and really blows the Nuggets away, you can pretty much expect Lawson to stay put.
Then there’s the Goran Dragic situation. This whole thing has remained fluid over the past several days, with the team wavering from seemingly wanting to move him to seemingly not being able to wait to get rid of him.
The latest update here is that Phoenix is now trying to attach Goran’s brother Zoran to any potential trade packages, likely in an effort to make Goran more comfortable wherever he would conceivably go. This situation is going to go down to the wire, so stay tuned.
