NBA Player Updates 3/6: The Latest News from Around the League, Tonight's TV Schedule and More
March 6, 2015
After a light evening of action last night in the NBA (just two games), we’ve got a heaping dose of basketball headed our way tonight. While we’re playing the waiting game, let’s check out some of the notable players and situations out there making headlines right now.
Bulls-Thunder: Unlikely hero E’Twaun Moore helped get the Bulls past the Thunder last night at United Center. He nailed a 3-pointer with just over two seconds left for a 108-105 victory.
Russell Westbrook managed 43 points with seven assists and eight rebounds, but his triple-double streak came to an end at four. He’s scored at least 40 points in three straight games, though.
Helping out on the Bulls side were Pau Gasol, who had 21 points and 12 rebounds, while Mike Dunleavy added 21 points. Joakim Noah managed 12 rebounds to get over the 5,000 mark for his career.

Blazers-Mavericks: The Trail Blazers have now won five straight games, so you would think the team would be happy. They’ve got an injury shadow cast over their good mood, however, as Wesley Matthews is now lost for the season due to a ruptured Achilles tendon.
Last night in Portland, Matthews injured himself on a relatively routine move for him. The Blazers would go on to win over the Mavericks 94-75. The Matthews injury is tough, as he’s started every game this season and heading into this one was carrying averages of 16.1 PPG and 3.7 RPG.
Guys like LaMarcus Aldridge (17 points; 12 rebounds) and Nicolas Batum (15 points; 12 rebounds--a season-high) will have to step up in Matthews absence.
