NBA Player Updates 3/20: The Latest News from Around the League, Tonight's TV Schedule and More
March 20, 2015
After a pretty quiet night last night, the NBA is back with a vengeance this evening. We’ve got a dozen gems to look forward to, so let’s not waste any more time and jump right into our daily look at the headlines from around the league.
Knicks-Timberwolves: This was certainly not a clash of the proverbial titans, but the game had plenty of meaning regardless. The Timberwolves edged the Knicks 95-92 in a matchup of the NBA’s worst teams, with New York getting the inside track to the best ping pong ball odds at this year’s draft.
Minnesota stopped a six-game skid and sits at 15-53; New York is now 14-54 and has the worst record in the league.

Rockets-Nuggets: It seems we can’t talk about the Rockets these days without talking about James Harden, and today is no different. He posted a career-high 50 points last night against the Nuggets in a 118-108 win, adding 10 rebounds for a double-double.
This was the first time a Rockets player has reached the 50-point mark since Hakeem Olajuwon (who was in attendance) did it with 51 in January of 1996.
Pelicans-Suns: The story of this game was the fact that Pelicans star big man Anthony Davis was sitting out due to a left ankle injury. Beyond that, the Suns won a not-so-pretty game in Phoenix, 74-72.
With the loss, the Pelicans are now a game out of the No. 8 playoff slot, which now belongs to Oklahoma City. The Suns are 1 ½ behind New Orleans.
Jazz-Lakers: Speaking of ugly games, this one wasn’t much prettier. The Jazz rode Gordon Heyward’s 22 points to an 80-73 win over the Lakers in L.A. last night.
The most notable thing about the loss was the fact that the Lakers have hit the 50-loss threshold in two consecutive seasons. The team has only lost 50 games five times in franchise history.
